Sausalito Beautiful Brings Beauty to the Community
Sausalito Beautiful, a community organization dedicated to ensuring the continued beautification of Sausalito, has worked hard this year to partner with the City, local businesses and other community groups on a variety of public improvement projects. For example, in October Sausalito Beautiful organized a “Beautification Day” where over forty volunteers spent their Saturday weeding, mulching and planting over 100 plants along Bridgeway in the area between Bay and Ensign. The City provided the equipment and planting supplies and the project was completed in one day thanks to the hard work of the volunteers. Sausalito Beautiful also succeeded in recruiting SWA, a landscape architecture, planning and urban design firm based in Sausalito, to create an extensive pro bono report detailing potential landscape and design improvements at City Hall. So far the report has inspired the pruning and fertilizing of more than 120 trees along Caledonia Street and around City Hall, tree surveys, and vegetation cleanup of the City Hall property. Sausalito Beautiful continues to develop partnerships in the community and identify places for landscaping and beautification projects in the City.
